RV Corner

Assalamu Alaikum!

In term 1, we have been learning about the six pillars of Imaan (faith). And inshaallah in term 2, we will be studying the five pillars of Islam. Now it is time to put lots of our learning into practice.

Let's us reflect on the five pillars of Islam :

1, Shahadah: sincerely reciting the Muslim profession of faith.

How do we say the Shahadah?

2, Salat: performing ritual prayers in the proper way five times each day.

How many times do you pray?

3, Zakat: paying an alms (or charity) tax to benefit the poor and the needy.

What time period is the most beneficial time to give Zakat?

4, Sawm: fasting during the month of Ramadan.

Does only our stomach fast? What other body parts fast too? How?

5, Hajj: pilgrimage to Mecca.

Why does Allah wants Muslims to perform Hajj once in our life time?

Fill in Your Hearts with Salawats

"Whoever says Salawat on me every day one hundred times, Allah will fulfill for him one hundred needs, seventy of them in hereafter (Akhirah) and thirty of them in this life (Dunya)." Prophet Muhammad (saw).

Our students doing an amazing job in sending salawats to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw). However, in order to reach the number 1,000.000 we need more salawats. The Salawat Project ends on 21.4.2016, the second week of term 2.

Families can support their children in saying the salawats during the term break. I will collect the class totals after the break again. There is a surprise waiting for our winning class!!!

Year 5 Integrated Studies

Year 5 Projects

Events That Took Place in the 1800's in Australia

The Year 5 students worked very hard, researching and presenting to the class what they learnt about their given topic on Australia in the 1800's.

The students had two components to finalise, including, 1. Theory- this involved researching and presenting their information in their own words and 2. Model/diorama-creating a model or diorama of their event.

I was very impressed with some of the students who were able to stand in front of the class and present their projects confidently, informing their classmates and myself about what they learnt.

All students were provided with feedback on their rubric which outlined areas in which improvement is needed. Students must use this feedback to ensure that they improve themselves for next time.

Well Done to all students who worked hard to produce work that was of great quality!

The library is a valued space dedicated to the school population and, in particular, the students. Each day many students meet their friends here in a safe, welcoming environment. I am always amused at the level of speed with which all the study areas are snapped up this year with more students and classes which is great to see.

I would like to thank all the students and teachers that helped assist the Library in ensuring books and the library was presented and displayed neatly, also thank you all for your patience throughout the renovations.

Our book fair is scheduled for April 18th – 22nd in the Library! It will be open each day at recess, lunchtime and after school.

Everyone is welcome so bring along your aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours and friends! The more purchases made the more free books we earn for our school!

A Scholastic Book Fair is a lively and fun event that enables children, parents, teachers and community members to purchase quality books and classroom materials at reasonable prices, while earning free books for our school. We will even have free bookmarks to give away with purchases! Start saving now!

Wishing you all a safe and relaxing term 1 holiday break.
